UK has left the European Union officially. With Brexit setting in motion, from January 4, 2021, all the shipments in both directions will have to go through customs mediation. With Brexit, countries in Europe will be subjected to customs and duty fees, unlike before. Now, goods shipped between EU countries, UK mainland and Northern Ireland will have to clear customs and will require a commercial invoice and other export documentation.

Which Countries Are Part of The European Union?

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden

What Is A Commercial Invoice?

A commercial invoice comes very handy for the Customs authorities to assess duties, assess goods suitability, taxes for transportation in and out of a specific country. It carries a lot of important information about the parcel and the goods inside it. It carries all the information like Credit terms and methodology for payment, EORI or tax ID numbers, date of invoice/ transaction, description of what is being transported and much more!

What is EORI number?

EORI stands for Economic Operator Registration and Identification number. It is mandatory for all businesses, traders, or individuals to declare an EORI number when importing /exporting goods into or out of the European Community.
The EORI number is a must even in cases of occasional import/export. For example, if a business, trader, partnership or individual occasionally buys items for their business or trade from outside the EU such as machinery or equipment, goods for exhibition, etc. Even though the business isn’t usually involved in importing or exporting, an Economic Operator Registration and Identification number EORI number is required.
